Rescue Paws — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 26 July 2026

Rescue Paws is an app for reporting animals in distress and connecting them with nearby volunteers. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect, and why

Your name and email address. Collected when you create an account. Your name is shown alongside the cases you report and the updates you post, so the people working a rescue know who said what.

Your mobile phone number. Collected on your profile so a responder can call you about a case — for example, if they arrive and can't find the animal. Your number is hidden from other users by default. It is shown to other volunteers only if you switch on visibility in your profile, and you can switch it off again at any time.

Your precise location. Read only while you are filing a report, to place the animal on the map and alert volunteers near it. The app never reads your location in the background. If you volunteer to receive alerts, your current location is used at the moment an alert is evaluated to check the distance you chose — nothing more.

Photos. Photos you take or attach are added to the case so responders can identify the animal. Photos are attached to the case and deleted 30 days after the case closes.

Content you write. Case reports, thread updates, your bio, and reports or suggestions you send. Case content is visible to other users of the app; reports about other users and app suggestions are visible only to moderators and administrators.

Points and activity counts. The app keeps a tally of your reports, rescues, updates, and photos to show your level and the rankings. These are visible to other users next to your name.

Children

Rescue Paws is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content, but accounts and reporting are intended for users who can lawfully consent to this policy in their country. We do not knowingly collect information from young children; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. We will not quietly widen how your information is used.
